Uncovering Your Money Beliefs

Money well-being is an important, often overlooked topic - and believe it or not, your money beliefs affect your overall wellbeing. Most of us don’t realize how many quiet beliefs shape the way we think, feel, and act around money. These beliefs often formed years ago, long before conscious choice was possible, yet they continue to influence decisions like how we price our services, whether we invest in our own growth or business, or how comfortable we feel receiving support or payment.

As we grow and evolve, the beliefs that once helped us feel safe, accepted, or in control can become outdated. While they may have served a purpose at one point, they often end up limiting what’s possible in the present. At a certain stage, they require a conscious release and an intentional refresh to support who we are now - and the version of ourselves we’re stepping into.

These deep-seated money beliefs don’t just shape internal narratives. They influence how we behave and even how we interpret what’s happening around us. Beliefs literally shape our reality. For example, a business owner who carries the belief that “it’s greedy to charge a lot” might consistently underprice their services, feel uncomfortable stating their rates, or increase their rates, or interpret a client’s hesitation as a reason to offer a discount. The belief becomes a lens through which reality is filtered.

And here’s the thing: money beliefs aren’t always obvious. They tend to operate like background music - subtle, but powerful.

The good news is they can be rewritten. Here’s a practical five-step exercise to help uncover what’s been running beneath the surface, and begin aligning your beliefs with the life, leadership, and impact you’re ready to embody.
