When Quiet Doubt Turns Into Determination
I got fed up. Not in a loud or dramatic way, but in that quiet, steady way you feel when something just isn’t sitting right anymore.
I visited doctors and was told, “You’re fine” - even though I knew my body was trying to tell me something.
The Cycle of Being Dismissed
Over the years, this happened more than once. Different symptoms, different concerns. Various blood tests. And again and again, I was either dismissed, misdiagnosed, handed prescriptions I didn’t need - or told flat-out not to worry. Worse case I was shouted at by the doctor for not doing what they wanted me to do. Great approach I reflected! I never returned to that doctor.
Some prescriptions I took didn’t help. I’ve had to do damage control after antibiotics cleared symptoms but caused havoc afterward. Others I never filled, because something inside me said: this isn’t the answer.
Later, I learned they weren’t the answer. The medication was for the wrong condition because the condition itself had been misunderstood.
Listening to What the Body Is Really Saying
Through it all, I kept noticing something deeper was happening. My body wasn’t malfunctioning - it was communicating. It was calling for help in the only way it could. And the last thing I was going to do was dismiss those messages.
I wanted to know why. Why these symptoms? Why now? What’s underneath this? What is my body asking for?
I couldn’t accept “We don’t know” as the end of the conversation. So I went and found out for myself.
